Notice that there is a cause and effect here... if we seek His kingdom FIRST, THEN these things (food, clothing, necessities) will be provided for us. "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear.....But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Elijah and the Widow -- We believe God gave us this scripture as assurance.
1 Kings 17:7-15 Notice that the widow was asked to step out on faith first.... she was to fix Elijah a meal before she fixed one for her son and herself. This verse "just happened" (a God-coincidence) to be in Mark's quiet time reading the day after we began praying about some financial decisions a short time after His job loss. We believe that God was using this passage to assure us that if we put Him first, He would cause our "flour and oil" to not become empty until the "rains" come again.
